Stockholm 1991. BERTH MILTON, runs a successful real-estate business and enjoys his single life among the jet setters. His relationship with his ex, KARIN, is frictionless but in contrast to Berth she wants to give their relationship a second chance and raise their son, PETER, as a couple. Berth is not ready to live a family life and even though he tries to be a good father, he’s unable to connect with his son. Berth’s best friend, DAG NORELL, can’t wait for him and Berth to sign a property investment in Ibiza. But Berth has other things on his mind, Berth’s loyal secretary, ERIKA, informs him that the authorities have denied Berth’s request to get one of his tenants, Mr. Fant, evicted despite the fact he hasn’t paid rent for the last six months and that neighbors complain about noise and a smell of garbage. Norell introduces Berth to a heavyweight bouncer named BLOM. Berth hands Blom some cash and says that Blom just needs to scare Mr. Fant into moving, nothing else. The rest of the money, Blom will receive when the job is done. The next day, the police shows up at Berth’s office. Mr. Fant has been severely beaten and they have caught the perpetrator, Mr. Blom, who says he acted on behalf of Mr. Milton. Berth denies any involvement in the matter. Blom tells Berth that he’ll collect the rest of the money Berth owes him when he is out of prison. Berth feels that he needs to get away from all the trouble around Blom and decides to go to Ibiza with Norell to have a look at the property investment.
In Ibiza Berth, Norell and Erika meet with the property manager. Norell is annoyed by the fact that Berth brought Erika with. Berth goes through the numbers of the investment when he gets a call from his father’s maid who tells him that Senior is very ill and that Berth needs to come to Marbella. Berth tells a disappointed Norell that he has to go and see his father, he will be back in a couple of days. Norell can’t believe it, he knows Senior and he also knows that Berth hates his father. Berth says that it will be a short visit. In Marbella Berth finds his dad, BERTH MILTON SR., in bad shape - drunk, miserable and lonely. Senior is happy to see Berth, it’s been too long. Senior reaches out to Berth and explains that Private’s distributor, Jim Van der Erde, is trying to steal Private from him, Berth is the only one that can save the company. Senior praises Berth for being capable and smart. If Berth doesn’t save the company, Senior will either go bankrupt or he’ll have to sell the company to Van der Erde, the company’s largest creditor. Berth is taken by surprise, this is the first time his dad asks him for help. Berth contemplates, could this be the way to repair their relationship? Could this be the way to reconcile and make amends? Berth accepts Senior’s wish. Berth hires an international accounting firm and contracts are signed by both Berth and Senior. Berth buys Private for 400.000 British pounds to which most goes to pay off creditors. He then buys Senior an apartment in Stockholm, gives him a monthly allowance and hires a nurse to care of him. Senior is forever thankful, finally he is out of debt and Private is still in the family. Karin is not too happy that Berth and Senior are on speaking terms again, she knows that Senior is not to be trusted. Berth tells her that he needs to give Senior a second chance, he can’t keep on hating him for the rest of his life. He promises Karin that he’ll get the company back on track, then he’ll sell it.
Berth explains the situation to Erika, he needs her on this venture. Erika knows all about Senior and the way he took a piece of the models and how he manipulated people around him. But she trusts Berth and she’ll do it for him, under two conditions: If she sees anyone get hurt, she’ll leave and she wants to become partner. It’s a deal. Berth later tells Norell that the Ibiza deal is off, he’s going to help Senior with Private. Norell is disappointed, he thought they were to become partners.
In Barcelona Berth and Erika meet with Private’s only employee, production manager JAVIER RODRIGUEZ. Rodriguez lets Berth know that Van der Erde is still interested in buying Private and at a higher price than Berth bought it for. Berth knows Van der Erde from the time when he transported Private magazines from Sweden to Holland. He never liked him but agrees to listen to what he has got to say. At the meeting in Amsterdam, VAN DER ERDE says he’s ready to take Private off Berth’s hands. The offer is more than Berth paid and it’s take it or leave it. Berth says he’ll think about it. Back at the hotel, Berth discusses the situation with Erika and Rodriguez - he is not interested in selling Private to a crook like Van det Erde. He has another strategy, to run Private just like any other business and become a frontrunner when it comes to transparency and clear contracts. Private should be a legit company. And why not make video the main product, magazines will soon be history. Erika likes the idea, she believes it’s better to get the business going, increase the value and then sell the company. Rodriguez agrees, but what’s hid deal? Berth makes him partner as well. Berth is the majority shareholder and Erika and Rodriguez hold minority shares.
