Sophie von Fersen
Sophie von Fersen is Axel’s younger sister and the one that he is closest to in the family. He writes her almost every day and reveals his inner thoughts and feelings. She has many lovers, one of them Fersen’s best friend Evert Taube, but later she marries an older Swedish noble man. After his death, she takes up the relationship with Taube and they live happily until his death. Together with Fersen she is accused of having poisoned the Danish Prince Karl August, the soon to be King of Sweden, but in contrast to her brother she listens to the advice to leave Stockholm.
Axel von Fersen Sr.
Axel von Fersen Sr. is Fersen’s father and the most powerful man in Sweden next to the King at the time. He is extremely wealthy, highly respected and not afraid to oppose the King. As Lord Marshal and one of the highest representative of the noble families he sees the danger in Gustav III:s way of ruling the country, something he’ll try and stop. The relationship between Axel Sr. is continuously complicated and they never reconcile.
