WHO WE ARE - THE ORI
The Chelsea Boot Co Est. 1851 is rooted in one of the most enduring silhouettes in footwear history.
In 1851, Queen Victoria’s shoemaker developed an elastic-sided ankle boot using newly invented
vulcanized rubber. Designed for function, ease, and elegance, the innovation eliminated laces and
defined a new category of footwear. What began as a practical riding boot evolved into a cultural
icon.
By the 1960s, the design had become synonymous with London’s creative revolution. From Carnaby
Street to the King’s Road, the Chelsea Boot was worn by musicians, artists, and cultural leaders. It
became a symbol of modern rebellion layered over traditional British craftsmanship.
Few footwear brands can legitimately anchor themselves to both royal heritage and rock-and-roll
history. This brand does.
