Canadians win Eclipse Awards

Cindy Pierson Dulay, owner of her locally based Horse-Races.net website, was the winner of the 2005 Eclipse Award for Photography in the Media category.
The photo “Stephan’s Angel Leaps” (seen here) was published in the Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred.
On her website Cindy describes how she was able to take the award winning photo: “I always watch when horses start acting up,
since those pictures make for great online postcards. Pimlico has an indoor saddling area and apparently Stephan's Angel didn't like it, so trainer John Servis took her outside to saddle on the track for the Miss Preakness Stakes on the day before the Preakness at Pimlico. She threw a total fit and in the process leaped straight up in the air. That is the shot I was fortunate enough to get that won the award.”

Ghostzapper wins 2004 Horse of the Year honours at the Eclipse Awards held January 24
The son of Awesome Again, beat out Smarty Jones for the top honour by 174 votes to 95. His breeder Adena Springs, owned by Frank Stronach, took the Eclipse Award for Breeder of the Year, Juddmonte Farms had held that trophy for the past three years.
According to a quote by Frank Stronach, Ghostzapper deserved the Eclipse, “His record speaks for itself. He could sprint, he could go a distance and I think he’s an exceptional horse. Every so often, a horse like that comes along and I’m very fortunate to have a horse like that.”
Ghostzapper was unbeaten in his four-year-old campaign in 2004 which included a victory in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
