Sixteen Days of Racing Left to the 2019 Woodbine Meet
This year’s 133 day Woodbine Thoroughbred meet will come to a close on December 15, 2019.
Jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva is in position to claim his sixth Woodbine title as top jockey during his nal season of racing. After multiple wins on recent cards Eurico with 161 wins has extended his lead to 23 wins over second ranked Rafael Hernandez with 138.
Trainer Mark Casse currently has 86 wins at Woodbine with last year’s leading trainer Norm McKnight seven wins behind in second-place with 79. Mark had annually been the leading trainer at Woodbine since 2007 until last year when Norm ended his 10-year reign.
Chiefswood Stables leads all owners for earnings having accumulated more than $2.2 million in purses, courtesy of horses like multiple graded stakes winner Tiz a Slam and the promising lly Cool Shadows, who won the Princess Elizabeth last month. Bruno Schickedanz is the win leader with 44 rst-place nishes.
With the most wins among horses, Entourage Stable’s Pink Lloyd is a perfect ve-for- ve in stakes action at the Woodbine meet. The Robert Tiller trainee has been nominated to the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes, scheduled for this Saturday, November
23. Meanwhile, Ricoh Woodbine Mile champion El Tormenta, who headed to Florida after wrapping up his 2019 campaign with a sixth-place nish in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, is the richest with $894,600 earned at Woodbine this season thanks in large part to his stakes success for trainer Gail Cox and owner/ breeder Sam-Son Farms.
