“I actually purchased the mare in foal from the October Barretts Sale (in Florida) in 2005. I was watching the sale over the internet and I made a bid and I bought her for $4000 dollars,” explained An- derson. According to Anderson he purchased Ayne Z. because he was familiar with one of her offspring. “One of her babies raced here as a 2 year-old and
He received a 92 Speed Beyer Figure in the Ladnesian Stakes on July 13, a feat which no other 2 year-old has ever done at Hastings.
I remember she won a maiden special weight, that impressed me,” he said. Anderson is a breeder
who breeds to sell so he has no regrets about selling hip number 23. “I’m very happy for Juan (Olmos) for having such a great horse and I hope he continues to do well with him,” said Anderson.
Jockey Pedro Alvarado has been his regular rider. “When I rst started to gallop him I knew he was good. When I worked him he was very very fast and that’s when I knew he was good,” said Alvarado. Although El Sinaloense did not win his rst race Alvarado still felt con dent with him. “When we n- ished second he still did a great job because he broke out of the gate poorly but then he started passing horses like he was an older horse. He is de nitely the best colt I have ridden in the last 10 years for sure and he deserves 2 year-old of the year for sure,” said a con dent Alvarado.
Indeed Olmos has done well with him. As of Sep- tember 7 2008, hip number 23, which Olmos named El Sinaloense, a Mexican song, has won his last ve races four of which have been Stake races.
When it comes to El Sinaloense, Alvarado also gives compliments to his handlers. “Juan and Sam (Assistant trainer) have done a great job with him and he is always ready to run, said Alvarado.

went to the Seattle sale and I plan on also going to Kentucky, but I don’t want to have too many for next year, said a concerned Olmos.
With all his good luck so far this year Olmos has decided to purchase more yearlings. “I
The only thing Olmos needs to be concerned about now is how many more trophy cases will t into his living room?

“You’re an apprentice until you ride 50 winners,” he explained, “or until you’ve been out of jockey school for three years. As a ‘bug’ you can ride one to ve horses per day until your weight allowance is only three pounds. Then you can ride up to seven horses per day.”
Davis, 40, came to Canada in March of 2004 and gradually has moved from exercise riding only to getting more -- and better -- mounts in the afternoon: “I’m pretty happy with the way things are going, especially now that I’m staying in Fort Erie; I hope things improve even more next year.”
Davis’s rst Fort Erie win was on Judith’s Leery, “which meant a lot to me because it was for trainer Bancroft De Souza, who brought me to Canada as an exercise rider. The best horses I’ve ever ridden are probably Dancer’s Vision for trainer Bob Tiller and Class Stamp for Cliff Hopmans.”
