Conquest Curlinate at Shannondoe Farm is the only son of leading sire Curlin to stand in Ontario. His rst foals are expected to begin arriving later this month with 39 mares pregnant for his rst crop in 2017.
After nishing a close second in the 2015 Plate Trial Stakes at Woodbine, his racing career was
cut short the morning of the post position draw for the Queen’s Plate where he was entered as one of the favourites. A near collision with a loose horse caused him to crack a sesamoid during training and ultimately ended his racing career. Arika spoke with trainer Mark Casse and asked if the owners (Conquest Stable) would stand the young horse at Shannondoe.
Another signi cant decision was made two years ago when Arika partnered with Mike Recio to form South Point Sales company for horses selling in the United States, something they had talked about doing for a number of years.
Mares are shipped from the Everatt’s Colton Springs Farm in Paris, Kentucky (160-acre farm purchased in 2003) to Shannondoe Farm in Ontario to comply with the Ontario Resident Mare criteria. The mare and foal will then be shipped back to the Kentucky farm. The foals return to Ontario the following April as yearlings for sales preparation. “Overall we have had a lot more success when we bought the Kentucky Farm.” said Arika, “When we started the rotation we found that the foals had better feet and better x-rays,” citing Conquest Daddyo and Caren as being part of the rst crop to rotate between the two farms as foals.

Despite the dispersal of the Conquest Stable horses in late 2016, Ernie Semersky and Dory Newell’s Conquest Stable retained their 60% ownership of Conquest Curlinate with the remaining 40% still owned by Shannondoe
