A Fleets Dancer Euthanized
Champion, A Fleets Dancer, was euthanized this Spring following an incident at Anson Stud Farm where he had been standing stud since 2004.

Owned by Cam Allard, A Fleets Dancer raced under the tutelage of Hall of Fame Trainer Roger Attfield in the latter part of his career amassing total career earnings of more than $1 million in his 45 lifetime starts.
His most profitable season was in 2001 at age 6, when he earned close to $430,000 on his way to being voted Champion Older Horse in Canada after winning the $150,000 G3 Dominion Day and the $150,000 G3 Durham Cup Handicaps at Woodbine. Also that year he was second in the $400,000 G2 Washington Park Handicap at Arlington Park & the Valedictory Handicap at Woodbine; he finished third in the both the $400,000 G2 Kentucky Cup Classic at Turfway Park and the $300,000 G2 Saratoga BC Handicap at Saratoga.

Stallion Elajjud Euthanized
Spring Farm’s productive stallion, Elajjud, was euth- anized in late March after an unknown injury caused the fifteen-year-old horse to badly falter in behind when bringing him in from his daily paddock turn-out at the farm where he stood in Granton, Ontario.
Owner Dr. Brown had said that they weren’t exactly sure what happened, figuring that the bay son of Dayjur - Aishah, by Alydar, had injured himself by jump- ing or twisting in the early spring snow.
“We think maybe it was a pelvic fracture or it was spinal.” explained Dr. Brown, who said he was away in Kentucky at the time.
Elajjud had retired in 1998 after racing from age 3 to 6. Entering stud in 1999, Elajjud registered 68 foals with 65 foals in 6 crops of racing age.
“He was probably the best statistical horse in Canada.” commented Dr. Brown, who men- tioned that the stallion was mainly for his own produc- tion and a few outside mares, “We were really looking forward to this year.”
Elajjud’s best progeny include: Stakes winner, Shot Gun Ela, who raced from age 3 to 5 (2004 -2006) with earnings totalling $315,491 with 7 wins - 4 seconds and 3 thirds in 19 lifetime starts; Seven time winner, Only Fools Rush In; Garzon, who placed in 7 of his 17 career starts; Swiftnsassy, a three time winner of more than $82,000 in the US.
Spring Farm acquires son of Unbridled
Saffir, a 5-year-old son of Unbridled - Storm Alert, by Storm Cat arrived late in the season to Spring Farm in Ontario. Owned in partnership by Dr. Brown and Elizabeth Moran’s Brushwood Stables, Saffir was a winner on both the dirt and the turf showing both ability and speed. Saffir was a $1.8 million yearling purchase and while attempting to bring the back to the races in 2007 after suffering an injury last year, the decision was made to retire him to stud.
The name Saffir, comes from the Saffir- Simpson Hurricane Scale, the 1-5 rating of a hur- ricane’s intensity, relative to his mare’s name being Storm Alert.
