That the 2008 Daily Racing Form/National Thoroughbred Association National Handicapping Championship on January 25-26 in Las Vegas will offer a record minimum prize-pool of $1 million, with the winner’s portion boosted to $500,000 from $400,000 last year. Cash payouts will be made to the top 30 competitors.

The date for the 2008 $6 million Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (EU-G1) is March 29. The race is the world’s most lucrative Thoroughbred race and is the highlight of the 49 race meetings in Dubai.
That the purse for the Fr-G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will increase to approximately $5.8 million US (4-million euros) for 2008, up from approxi- mately $2.8 million (2-million euros). The purse increase is thanks a ve year sponsorship deal with the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club. The increase will boast the 2,400 meter (11.93 furlong)race to be the world’s richest turf race and second to the $6 million Dubai World Cup as the world’s most lucrative races.
