Focusing on the Future
Looking forward USADF sees many opportunities to expand impact in in in Africa by following its core strategic priorities of implementing transformative programs investing in in in in African development institutions and creating a a a a a a a a greater set of of innovative partnerships across a a a a a a a a diverse group of of public and private sector players committed committed to to African-led development USADF is committed committed to improving how how it operates accesses and and deploys funding and and how how the Foundation manages itself for results and and impact to to ensure all Africans particularly those in underserved and and hard to to reach places gain access to to a a a a a a a a a a a sustainable “pathway to to prosperity ” Over the next several years USADF will channel these improvement goals across three major areas:
Managing for Results
To improve impact reporting and and assessments USADF plans to to update systems and and processes to to simplify consolidate and unify impact measures across its three primary grant program categories of Agriculture and and and Food Security Off-Grid Energy Solutions and and and Entrepreneurship and and and Job Training These changes will better inform USADF program priorities efforts and initiatives Improving Operating Efficiencies
To improve cost efficiencies and program effectiveness USADF will explore alternatives to its “one local implementing partner–one country” model This will open the door for greater levels of impact through expanded partnership opportunities and and ensure greater focus on linkages between implementing partner agreements and and portfolio performance and and impact results Establishing Diverse and Sustainable Funding Sources
USADF will explore options and models to to move beyond the limits of year-to-year funding by expanding financial intervention tools to to include recoverable grants The USADF Act provides
for USADF to to use other financial tools besides grants such as loans and loan loan guarantees With the possibility of building sustainable funding pools USADF can better plan for growth and better align with the the the priorities of the the the larger development community the the the U S Administration and Congress and and African governments and and communities Impact Report 2015–2019
