2020 Construction Summary
The contractor on the supplemental intake project, in 2020, made progress on finalizing the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) plan, HDD subcontractor, pipeline subcontractor, and diving subcontractor.
The contract that included the upgrades at the Dodge and Richardton raw water pump stations was awarded in Fall of 2018. The upgrades at the Dodge pump station replacing three 700 HP vertical turbine pumps with 1000 HP pump and installation of one new 1000 HP vertical turbine pump was completed in 2020. At the Richardton pump station, the contract scope included replacing three 900 HP pumps with 1250 HP pumps. Installation of two out of the three pumps was completed in 2020.
The Dodge and Richardton pump station and other raw water main transmission line upgrades necessitated certain blowoff valves to be upgraded to higher pressure class valves. A contract to upgrade five valves was awarded in Summer 2019 and construction was completed in 2020.
The contracts for the 2nd Davis Buttes reservoir located north and east of Dickinson and the 2nd Belfield reservoir located near the City of Belfield were awarded in Fall 2019. Both these tanks became operational in 2020.
In 2020, progress was also made in identifying strategic improvement projects that will proceed for design and construction.
