Dr. Chris Bradshaw and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health faculty wish to congratulate one of their own for passing the Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) exam. For the certifications offered by the BCSP, the CSP is the gold
standard of professional excellence in the Safety realm.
Mellena Nichols traveled to Dallas at the beginning of April to take the 5.5-hour board certification exam. The attainment of the CSP certification denotes a high-level of standard of competency that is recognized throughout the world. An individual with the CSP has demonstrated that they have met the professional challenge of illustrating competency through education, experience,
and examination.
The OSH department is a BCSP Qualified Academic Program (QAP). The QAP designation indicates that the content of the degree meets the stringent requirements of the BCSP, one of which is that the faculty has at least one CSP. With Mrs. Nichols passing the exam, we now have two CSPs in the department. One benefit of being a QAP that students graduating from the program can apply for the Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) designation.
