With so much attention on the Champions League each year, there are a lot of excellent teams, players and performances missed in the other two European club competitions. But with the number of top clubs spending big in the hope of qualifying for the Champions League, there are some famous names in the Europa League these days.
It is always a little difficult to predict the winner of this competition before the influx of sides dropping down from the Champions League after the group stage. Since that rule was brought in at the turn
of the millennium, there have been nine Europa League winners that began the season in the Champions League - including last season’s victors Sevilla. The Spanish side may well fall back down into the Europa League again this season and go on to win the title for an incredible eighth time. But for now, there are already some very successful clubs looking to win the Europa League and
book a place in the 2024-25 Champions League competition.
Liverpool are the side that immediately stands out from the group of clubs already with a group stage berth. Jürgen Klopp will be looking to bring the club back to prominence, both domestically and
on the continental stage, after letting some of the older players go this summer. It was very obvious at times last year that the Liverpool midfield needed
