Morata, and goals have overtaken assists. Griezmann is certain to hit Atletico goal figures not seen since his ill-fated Barcelona move this season, but he already has one new record, which is a sure-fire
legacy builder.
At the start of 2024 in the Supercopa de Espana against arch rivals Real Madrid, he scored his 174th goal for Atletico, making him the club’s all-time record goalscorer, overtaking iconic former striker Luis Aragones. If anything else was needed to reaffirm his status with the fans, he provided it by setting his name in the history books and issuing a timely reminder that he’s one of the best and most technically versatile players world football has been blessed
with during the past decade - even if he’s received less coverage than some of
his peers.
Griezmann refused to be distracted from
his mission to make amends in Madrid,
and he has done that in the only way he knows how, by running until he cannot stop and providing those clutch moments for Simeone, just as he did the first time around. He grabbed his Barcelona chance, knowing it wouldn’t come again, but the reality is that his two combined Atletico spells have blended together, to confirm his place as a modern La Liga legend.
Nicknamed as ‘The Little Prince’ Griezmann is nicknamed “The Little Prince” because of
his diminutive stature, exceptional playmaking skills, and intelligent footballing brain.

IN HIS CREATOR-IN-CHIEF
POSITION FOR SIMEONE,
POPPING UP IN SPACES
AND CONDUCTING ATLETICO MADRID’S FORWARD LINE.”
