WHO SAID WHAT
“The only thing I wouldn’t do
is celebrate Cristiano. I would score the goal and I would do
like (Lionel) Messi does. I’ll stick with that.” – Former Real Madrid
and Manchester United star Angel Di Maria would never emulate Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration after scoring, but he would be thrilled to replicate the celebration of his national teammate, Lionel Messi.
“They’ve been brilliant, back in the title race... get down the tunnel. I’m serious, honestly...”
– Jamie Carragher did not approve of Arsenal’s wild celebrations following their crucial 3-1 victory over Liverpool.
“I want my players to have desire to be better and be demanding. If not, it’s Disneyland.”
– Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants his players to continuously push themselves.
“They called me because they needed me, and I said, ‘I will come and help.”
– Idrissa Gana Gueye explains his return to Everton.
Liverpool have recovered 22 points from losing positions in the Premier League this season, more than any other side, and their joint-most in a single campaign in the competition (also 22 in 2008-09).
WAYNE’S LAW
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed the major role he played in his wife’s Wagatha Christie trial. The case dates back
to 2019 after Coleen Rooney alleged Rebekah Vardy had leaked stories about her private life to the press. Vardy subsequently filed a libel lawsuit against Rooney and lost. The ex-DC United manager has now claimed he told Coleen’s barrister the questions that should be asked. He also revealed his interest in the law did not go away after the case as he applied to study the subject at university.
NOT LOVE ISLAND
Fans were left gasping, “I thought this was Love Island,” after James Tarkowski’s overly cheesy flirting on a reality TV show went viral. The Everton ace, 31, is mainly known for his defensive work and no-nonsense attitude in the Premier League. But Tarkowski is now taking a turn as a TV star. The center-back appeared on Prime Video show Married to the Game. The six- part series, which premiered on February 23, lifts the lid on the life of a football Wag. Prime Video teased a clip of Tarkowski’s relationship with his wife Samantha. Tarkowski turned on the charm in the video while displaying his corny flirting.
JUST FOR KICKS
Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard has explained why he was happy with receiving
a three-match ban after infamously kicking a ball boy. The 33-year-old states that it afforded him the opportunity to spend valuable time with his wife, who was expecting their first child at the time. However, the Belgian denies that he did it intentionally.

HAIRSTYLE HARRY
Gary Neville apologized live on air to Harry Styles after failing
to recognize the pop star. The duo were both present as Manchester United narrowly beat Luton 2-1 at Kenilworth Road. Before kick-off, One Direction star Styles popped into the Sky Sports studio to greet pundits like Jamie Redknapp and Tom Lockyer. But Neville failed to recognise Styles, who was dressed smartly with a snazzy new haircut.
ONCE BITTEN...
Luis Suarez has claimed that his notorious bite on Giorgio Chiellini led to Arsenal missing out on signing Karim Benzema. He claims that the incident caused Real Madrid to withdraw from signing him. If Suarez had signed for Madrid, Benzema would have been released from the club, and Arsenal was one of the Frenchman’s biggest admirers at the time.
