better understanding of maritime archaeology. With trained and experi- enced volunteers it is then possible for organizations with responsibility for wreck sites and underwater archaeological sites to recruit these people as volunteers.
Finally, as in 1990, I hope this book will stimulate debate, provoke thought and questioning, and also help educate and encourage maritime archaeologists everywhere.
