B1-4. Four brass tobacco boxes, described in the 1973 report (Price & Muckelroy, 1974: 264-5). A couple are illustrated in Fig. 13; the close similarity to the one found on the Santo Christ0 de Castello (1667) is note- worthy (McBride et al., 1975: 241-2).
This list is arranged according to the order of the project’s ‘small finds’ catalogue; as men- tioned above, some categories (marked by an asterisk) are only dealt with summarily, the emphasis being on material of specifically nauti- cal interest. At the end of each entry is given, in brackets, firstly, the finds group number to which that object belongs, in the form which indicates in turn the year, site, and list number of that group; secondly, the excavation area
from which it comes; and thirdly, the grid refer- ence for its sea-bed location. The arrangement of the grid is given on Fig. 1;the distance along the east-west axis is always given first. In all finds photographs, the scale is marked in centi- metre units.
A. Coins
The 59 silver coins, found in two piles on Site F (at -14-6/-2.9), were described in detail in the 1973 report (Price & Muckelroy, 1974: 265); however, a few other coins have been found elsewhere on the site.
