Diamond S Quarter Horses is located in the Flint Hills of Kansas, owned by Mitch and Dawn Hubbard. Although Mitch has been involved with horses his whole life, together, we started buying weanlings about 15 years ago to raise and ride. We enjoyed it so much, we decided
to start raising our own, specializing in the type of colts we liked and wanted to ride. Our mare band is heavily influenced by Leo Hancock Hayes, Gooseberry, Valentine Red Rogers, and Mr Roan Hancock. We’ve ridden several of the mares in our band, and now we also ride their colts. We use our horses to manage the day-to- day operations of Wickstrum Farms, one of the largest cattle operations in Northeast Kansas having a 2500-head cow herd and 10,000 head feedlot. Our horses have to be good minded, stand on good feet and legs, with plenty of
heart and try. Our regular daily operations
are performed on cement, on mud, and out in the pasture, in all weather conditions. We are continuing to out cross our heavily influenced Blue Valentine mares with cutting and reining cow horse bloodlines and are very pleased with the results.
Our herd sire, Letit Happen Hancock aka Stretch, is a son of Revue Hancock out of an excellent daughter of Big Stretch Hancock. Stretch has seen long days calving heifers, processing cattle at the feedlot, and riding these rocky Flint Hill pastures. He carries the bone and foot to stand up to our conditions and has the stamina to go all day. We are very excited for the future of his offspring in our herd.
