Since the early 1900s, the Lauing family has ranched in Central South Dakota. As the third and fourth generations ranching here, we continue to build our program. Our mission is to preserve the usability and accomplishments of Blue Valentine/Joe Hancock foundation through offspring bred for your consideration. Foals from our ranch go on to other breeding programs, to the arena, and to be used as working ranch horses. These horses are mounting competitors from youth to the PRCA all across the country. They are cowy horses that are smooth moving across the pasture and quick on their feet in the arena. They have color, conformation and size with muscle and the right amount of bone to perform in all disciplines. Horses raised here will do well anywhere. As AQHA Life Members, The Lauings have consecutively bred Quarter Horses for nearly 40 years and became part of the Ranching Heritage Breeders
in 2009. Lauing Ranch foals are eligible and can be nominated for the Ranching Heritage Challenge.
All Lauing Ranch stallions and mares are negative for the 5 panel genetic test through AQHA. Keeping true
to the Blue Valentine foundational roots, the Lauings are grateful and feel very fortunate to include such impressive pedigrees such as Roan Ambrose, Leo Hancock Hayes, Valentine Red Rogers, Gooseberry, Plenty Try, Hancocks Blue Boy, and the legendary mare, Fox Coup. This year, Lauing Ranch along with Sunrise Farm partnered on the addition of two well- known stallions: Blue Fox Hancock and Mr Junewood with foals arriving in 2021.
