COSY
by Michelle Davis COTTAGES
Autumn. The air is crisp and walks are brisk; against a backdrop of yellow, orange and red hues as the leaves prepare for their descent to the ground. There they provide so much fun for little feet in welly boots who kick them into the air!
Yes, the nights draw in and days are shorter but that is just an opportunity to burn a ‘Pumpkin spiced’ candle or light the fire and enjoy something hearty created in the slow cooker. Cosy.
With a Summer that didn’t start until the middle of July and most people choosing to have their holidays at home this year, isn’t it important to enjoy all this year has left to offer with an Autumn staycation? Here is my pick of ‘Cosy Cottages’ for Autumn.
Quaint Cottages
Greyabbey
The cottages captivated my imagination... like something straightoutofastorybookinaprettyvillage.Rosecottage has a large living room with open fire (requirement of any cosy cottage), spacious kitchen and dining and master bedroom with ensuite. Sleeps 2 adults. Rose cottage Annex has 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 5 guests and private gardens overlooking fields and a children’s climbing frame. Lilac Tree cottage has 2 bedrooms, pretty side garden and views of the Abbey to the rear. The cottages are beautifully renovated but retain their rustic aesthetics.
Greyabbey is a historic village on the Ards peninsula with Cistercian Abbey (Cistercian refers to an order of monks). The Abbey grounds are perfect for walks and picnics. Greyabbey has some lovely coffee shops, restaurants and antique shops for a charming Autumn staycation.
MIDWEEK OFFER: Stay 2 nights and get an extra night free. Prices for October and November start from £165 per night for 2 people.

Shamrock Cottage
Aghnablaney, Fermanagh
Shamrock cottage is a luxurious 5 star self catering cottagenearKesh- theidealplacetoenjoypeaceand tranquillity. Just on the edge of Lough Erne, it offers the most stunning lakeside views for a relaxing stay with a spacious outdoor area. The Inglenook fireplace in the lounge is my idea of cosy. The cottage sleeps 6 guests.
Take a walk along the shore and through the woodlands or stand on the jetty hugging a warm mug of coffee in the morning sunshine. The jetty is also great for fishing. Of course, Shamrock cottage is in a great location for exploring Fermanagh and all it has to offer!
