It’s time to cast off the loungewear and dust down those gladrags. This season, ladies, we are delving deep into your wardrobe. Let’s
look first at the Autumn/ Winter 2020 trends.
This season’s vibe is feminine and luxurious (as A/W tends to be) but with a toughened twist.
Faux fur coats continue to line our high street boutiques, one of my favourites is a French Connection faux fur in burgundy from House of Vixen, Omagh.
Faux leather and coated trousers
are back for another season, this time they’re more relaxed but still very versatile.
Knitwear is chunky and vibrant and the coatigan is back in trend.
Metallics are huge and can be found in everything from quilted coats to bags and trainers. Precious Cookstown have an extensive selection of metallic trainers in store and online.
Checks are back. I’m talking tartan, houndstooth and Heritage and they’re here to stay right through to the new season (I’m loving the range of checks coats available from Lily Rose in Moira).
And the “it” boot of the season
is none other than our former friend, “the biker” (Sitara Morgan have Biker boots in so many colourways).
The beauty of this seasons trends is that we already have many of these key pieces hanging in our wardrobe just waiting to be rediscovered.
There are lots of ways to restyle garments, ensuring that we fall in love with them all over again. For example, a furcoat(whichmayhavebeenyour mothers) could be worn over a dress and styled with long boots. You could dress it down with a jumper, jeans and trainers combo or style it up with coated trousersandasilkcamifordatenight.
The metallic shoe has been around for some time and it simply takes an outfit to another level. It’s also a great alternative to nude for any season. I recommend clients with cool skintones choose silver shades and warmer skintones opt for golds.

Revamping knitwear is the oldest trick in the styling book. Find yourself a great dressmaker and change up the neckline
or add new buttons (you can buy a good range of
buttons from local haberdashery stores like
Paragon in Belfast). Knitwear can be very versatile and stylish whilst also being practical. I love jumpers
layered over crisp shirts or under statement coatigans
or worn over a long dress with tights and leather
boots.
from having a wardrobe that you really love. We are fortunate here in Northern Ireland to have lots of wonderful boutiques stocking a range of international brands suitable for every budget. This season, I’m loving Harrison Belfast for their casualwear, Rio Brazil for their denim and outerwear, Precious Cookstown for their wide range of footwear and accessories and Orchid Lingerie on Belfast’s Lisburn Road for their bras (never underestimate the power of a good bra).
My advice when it comes to choosing your look for this festive season is don’t let 2020 hold you back from dressing or feeling like the best version of you. I want you to kick off your celebrations, whatever format they may take, in style and head into 2021 feeling fabulous.

Accessories are another great way of upstyling your look, particularly during thefestiveseason. Thinkstatement jewellery to textured belts or interesting bags, it is easy to create new looks with the help of clever accessories that may have been long forgottenabout. Itisalsoavery inexpensive way of adding a new dimension to an outfit. I love these earrings from a new Fermanagh based company called ‘I am Stunning’.
Shopping your own wardrobe means that it becomes very easy to identify any gaps that are holding you back
