Magickal Full M n - 31st Octob
October’s 2nd Full Moon
Full Hunter’s Moon
On October 31st the second full Moon
graces our skies which is called the Full
Hunter’s Moon because it signaled the time
when our ancestors would go hunting in
preparation for the winter months. Since the
harvesters had recently reaped the fields
under the Harvest Moon, hunters could
easily see the fattened deer and other
animals that had come out as well as the foxes and wolves that had come out to prey on them.
This moon falls on Samhain or Halloween if you prefer. A full Moon occurring on Halloween is not a common occurrence and only happens every 18 to 19 years. Having a full moon on this already spooky night gives the energy that's already around us an extra boost. As the veil is thinner and we can communicate with the passed more easily, it will be even more elevated by the energy of the full moon. Use this time and energy to connect with passed loved ones during this full moon, ask for her divine energy to help bring your loved ones closer. Don’t forget your animal family member too, they deserve to be remembered as well.
Create an Ancestor Alter
You will need:
Candle
Photos of loved ones / Items they may have owned
Step-By-Step
Try to be near a window where the moonlight can shine through.
• Light a special candle in remembrance for them or multiple if you wish to have one for every person or animal.
• Adorn a side/table in your home with pictures of your loved ones and items they may have passed down to you. They will happily draw close and be with you.
• You may talk out loud to them or in your mind and reminisce about old stories that involved them. Laugh with them, cry with them, simply be with them.
• Keep the candle burning until it has fully burned out.
You don’t just have to do this just on Samhain you can do this as a permanent altar if you so wish, what a lovely way to remember your loved ones. 32
