You are now twenty-three and in luck. The government has given women equal access to study, and
a very cool school called the Bauhaus is accepting female students. However, nothing is perfect. Women have to pay more than men—150 marks for men and 180 marks for women! What should you do?
refuse to pay more than men?
No! If you decide the situation is unfair, good for you! For a few weeks you are admired by your female colleagues, who make the pragmatic choice: they pay, they get an education, and they work
in a male-dominated art world. As for you—stubborn, brave, bold fighter for equality—you are simply a few decades ahead of your time. Alas, you never become a modern artist.
agree to pay more than men?
Yes! If you decide to pay more because you have enough money, you accept the status quo. You surf a male-dominated school without making much noise. Nobody ever apologizes to you, and
you don’t expect them to. After all, you are grateful to be allowed to continue participating in the Adventure of Modern Art!
