Why I Stopped Going to the Match
As I mentioned, for a long while in the late Seventies and early Eighties I attended matches at Roker Park with the same group of lads and we always stood in the middle of the Roker End about half way up. Then near the end of 1980 one lad started a relationship with a woman and stopped coming to the games altogether and his brother found another part of the ground to stand in. Around 1982 another lad threw a moody with me and other friends and basically never spoke to us again for reasons I never did fathom. He stopped coming to our usual spot and his closest mates did the same.
