The F. A. Cup Final: 9th May 1992
In May 1992 I was working at the Electricity Generating Company in the Polish city of Plock. teaching English to thirty engineers. I’d been in Plock (pronounced Pwotsk) since 26th April and it had all been a bit of a whirlwind as I’d got home in London late at night about two weeks before to see a note on my bedsit door asking me to call a number in Leamington Spa. It turned out to be about a job I’d applied for nearly six months previously and which I’d long since forgotten about. I duly went for an interview
