My First Season at Roker Park: 1962-1963
I never decided to become a Sunderland fan but there was never any other possibility for me. Like everyone I knew when I was a child Sunderland was the only option. The first football match I ever went to at Roker Park was on 15th September 1962 and our Graham and I stood in the middle of the then uncovered Fulwell End. I was eight and a half at that time and I was small for my age so I hardly saw any of the actual match because both ends were all-standing in those days.
