Mid-Sixties Footy Memories
1964 was a great year for us as we were finally promoted back into Division One and over the summer there was much excitement about what the coming season would bring. However, there were a couple of major dramas in that firstly manager Alan Brown resigned and the teams were picked by the directors with the help of Charlie Hurley. Then just before the season started fans’ favourite Monty was injured and we had to play fifteen year-old Derek Forster in goal for the first match in late August, where we managed a 3-3 draw with Leicester.
