KENNEDY SPACE CENTER OPENS NEW ATTRACTION
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex recently opened its brand-new attraction - Gateway:
The Deep Space Launch Complex - which features the spaceport of the future, Spaceport KSC.
Visitors can experience the interstellar travel of tomorrow with a showcase of NASA and commercial spacecraft with immersive displays, as well as take a “journey” through space and a unique launch viewing opportunity.
In addition to offering a “nose-to-nose” view of the SpaceX Falcon booster, Gateway’s second floor features a -foot, floor-to-ceiling Robotic Space Explorers Interactive Wall with interactive, touchscreen displays, where guests can learn about different satellites and probes in space.
NEW YORK CITY IS BACK
NYC & Company’s president and CEO, Fred Dixon, NYC & Company, has predicted that the City will recapture over 80 percent of its record 2019 visitation levels by the end of 2022.
He comments: “New York City is experiencing an extraordinary revival, with the iconic sites visitors know
and love, plus many dynamic, new developments across all five boroughs.
“From our world-class attractions, hotels and Broadway shows, to the authentic small businesses and diverse experiences found across neighbourhoods citywide, NYC is back in a big way and already welcoming visitors from around
the globe.”
NYC & Company has launched a number of tourism initiatives to encourage more visitors, including the new Get Local NYC campaign and the recently-launched multicultural content hubs on NYCGO.com.
The city will see some 9,000 new hotel rooms coming online this year with new properties such as Aman New York and NYC’s second Ritz-Carlton; more than 20 new Broadway shows; upgrades across the region’s three major airports; and new arts and culture openings including the Museum of Broadway.
The city’s Get Local NYC campaign encourages visitors to explore small businesses citywide and feature Brooklyn Like a New Yorker and Bronx Like a New Yorker, Explore Manhattan like a New Yorker and features on Staten Island and Queens set to launch this summer.
SEATTLE TO HOST FIFA WORLD CUP 2026
Seattle has been confirmed as one of cities across North America selected by FIFA to host the FIFA World Cup matches for the men’s tournament in summer .
The 48-team tournament will be hosted by three nations, with an announcement on the number of matches and the rounds Seattle will host, expected in June 2023. The FIFA World Cup was last played in the U.S. in 1994.
Kelly Saling, Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer for Visit Seattle, said: “We’re thrilled FIFA recognised the infrastructure Seattle has in place to hold global events like the World Cup - it is the perfect setting to host World Cup matches.
