New Local Membership exclusively for Darlington and Co. Durham residents
The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle is really excited to announce it’s introduced a new local membership pass offering adults living in Darlington and County Durham reduced price entry which includes a wide range of events and changing temporary exhibitions throughout the year so more people can enjoy a day out despite increases in the cost of living. All under 18s, students and carers get free entry.
Visit us soon and spend the summer exploring the ground- breaking exhibition Journey in Colour, which dives into the vivid colours of the Museum’s collection and uses new interactive technologies to ‘play’ with colour alongside hand-thrown vases by a winner of The Great Pottery Throw Down.
There’s a dedicated crafty children’s summer school suitable for 7 to 12 year olds with different craft activities each day from Monday, 8 August to Friday, 12 August. There are also various dedicated fun kid’s activities weekly throughout the holidays, as well as the Family Brunch Club,
Little Treasures and After School Clubs and the Young Creator’s Art Club. There’s also a Printing School for adults who want to learn new printing techniques with the textile and mixed media artist, Susie Davis.
A summer market returns to the grounds of the Museum on Saturday and Sunday 13 and 14 August, where you can enjoy a host of new flavours and support local artisan businesses selling a variety of wares from plants, pottery, furniture,jewellery,candlesandwreathstofoodanddrinks including cheese, brownies, fudge and much, much more.
You can discover more about the Museum’s Japanese art collection from the Keeper of Ceramics, Dr Howard Coutts, in a Taste of Japan late on Friday, 26 August, make an evening of it by enjoying a Japanese meal in Café Bowes afterwards.
