When your magazine reaches 200 editions, it’s only right that
you take advantage
of one of your
regular features to tell your readers about
your history, right? Yeah, we thought so!
At seventeen years old, we
are officially the longest
established local community magazine in the county, and
we’re still going strong. Of course, lots has changed in that time, but we have continued to grow and adapt with the times, to create the community magazine you know and love today.
It all started way back in 2005. The first
edition of IN&AROUND was sent to print in
April and made its way through the letterboxes of businesses in Chester-le-Street that same month. IN&AROUND became North Durham’s first community magazine, and advertised local businesses to the people of Chester-le-Street. The magazine was left in shops for the public to pick up, before we moved to door to door delivery.
In the early days, IN&AROUND was simply an ad magazine. As time went on, we started to expand. The magazine started to advertise businesses from all over North Durham, and was delivered to more and more homes in the area. Now, we deliver to thousands of residential addresses, giving our advertisers the best chance possible of a return on their investment.
As we expanded our team, we were also able to expand our content. We started including more
editorials to engage our readers and create a proper community feel. The magazine also includes a competition every month, with some amazing prizes up for grabs - which you guys absolutely love and enter every month!
At IN&AROUND, we do our best to move with the times and create a magazine that our readers enjoy digesting and our advertisers are proud to show off their business in. Some of our advertisers have been with us for over ten years, and one or two have even featured since the very first issue.
We hope to continue to create a magazine that our readers know and love, for many years to come. Maybe even another 200 editions?
