Hivemind, are a fiery four-piece hailing from Sunderland and South Shields - and they are certainly bringing the heat with their new single, ‘Fire! Fire! Fire!’. Georgina Shine caught up with the band following the track’s recent release.
Give us an insight into what listeners can expect from the new single... The exact same loud, hype energy you’ve come to expect from our previous singles, but with extra added filthy riffs and a growly, whipping statement of a bassline from our newest member, Si Brown.
What was the inspiration behind ‘Fire! Fire! Fire!’?
‘Fire! Fire! Fire!’ is about keeping yourself in check. Unhealthy behaviours can spread to other areas of your life super quickly, and before you know it, everything is on fire (metaphorically). It’s easier
toputoutaflamethanputouta wildfire.
If you could each pick a film and/ or TV show to have your music featured on, what would you choose?
We’re huge fans of The Boyz - it’s a bit of an ‘out there’ TV show - and our eclectic mix of tunes would fit the crazy nature of it. Failing that, don’t you think ‘Fire! Fire! Fire!’ would fit perfectly over a compilation of hard tackles on Match of the Day? That’s the true dream.
What has been your favourite live performance to date? And what would be your dream gig to play? We played at Head of Steam Newcastle in April and it was one of our first gigs with new bassist, Si. The venue was packed out and the line- up was great. It’s the first moment
with this line-up when we started to feel like a real unit. Everything clicked and there’s nothing like that feeling when playing live music. Albeit, our dream gig would be to headline Glastonbury or sell out the 02 Arena, but realistically, we’d love to share the stage with some of our favourite bands such as Vukovi, Bring Me the Horizon, Marmozets, Muse or Royal Blood.
And finally, what’s next for Hivemind?
When we were in the studio recording ‘Fire! Fire! Fire!’ we also had the opportunity to record a new single...and we might already have another one in the vault. We’re back on the gigging scene and ready to go. We want more gigs, more songs, more merch, more everything!
