Gregorz:diary The social diary of a bear (1⁄4 inches tall)
Hi there Peeps!
It’s been a summer of fun all round and my diary has been as hot as the weather!
Tom Sneddon (Mr United) isn’t daft.
He asked me to join his quiz team for
a black tie charity night in aid of Marie Curie. With my help (naturally), we came in a very respectable third place, much to the delight of United’s Shelley Evans, their PR supremo. Goodness knows how they would have managed without the well travelled bear’s contribution. Lots of money raised
for a great cause.
There are few better venues than Edinburgh’s Botanical Gardens where I found myself in the company of Stephanie Robertson from Canadian and American Affair at their Agent Training Workshop. While I sat in the corner keeping an eye on the cakes, agents learned about their principal products and destinations.
Another highlight was the SPAA Summer Caribbean soiree. Dress code was LOUD and boy, did some people get the memo! It was a fabulous night with great food, entertainment
and company.
Some of the contenders for ‘best dressed’ included Lynsey from Balkan, Brad and his cabin crew entourage from Virgin Atlantic and Graham
from Glen Travel.
Newcastle Airport was next in my social diary. It’s always a pleasure
to see Laura, their agency contact. Business has really picked up and it was great to see the place so busy again. She is delighted that Emirates are showing their commitment to NCL and ramping up their services again from the ‘Toon’.
On my way back, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to pop in and see two
of my favourites – Kath and Tracey from Border Global Travel. They were delighted to see me as always and I got all the latest news and updates from them whilst enjoying coffee and cakes. Thanks ladies!
The social whirl continues with up and coming cruise ship visits and an SPAA golf day to look forward to. If you want me to be at your event, get in touch!
However, my pick went to the shy and retiring Colin Rillie and his partner in crime, Wendy Cameron from MSC. My buddy Shane (Mr Barbados) was looking cool in his Bajan shirt and straw hat. Even my attempt at Caribbean attire paled into insignificance compared to some.
TIPTO came to town in July with some top suppliers and a full complement of agents all eager to learn and network.
Craig Davidson from Flexi Reps rocked up, talking all things Carnival Cruise Line (did you see what I did there?). Richard Hey, newly appointed in agency sales at Abercrombie and Kent was there and my pal William Young was wowing them with his slick sales presentation on all things Emerald and Scenic.
A new girl on the block and one
to watch out for, Briony Worrall representing Fred Holidays, was there to talk through their excellent product range.
