GONE TOMORROW ‘BARCELONA’ SINGLE
NE VOLUME RATING:  Those opening
guitar strums, the slow bleed-in of drums and what Gone Tomorrow make way for with their track ‘Barcelona’ is as impressive as
it is enjoyable. That slow burn only lasts a few seconds
but it gives Gone Tomorrow a new range needed for their alternative style. And what a style it is, with solid instrumentals backing confident lyrical charms, warning of revolutions, played along to thrashing guitars and great cohesive repetition. It
is that repetition ‘Barcelona’ relies on, with consistent rises and falls, that has helped the band to produce a creative and unique track. With great lyrical range, and a determination for a revolution to happen, spread across three minutes of strong alternative music, Gone Tomorrow mark a strong release with ‘Barcelona’. DRIVEN SERIOUS ‘LOOK ON THESE WORKS' ALBUM
voted ‘Track of the Week’ by BBC Tees, Rame Kari might be just at the start of their journey but have already accumulated high praise and recognition from their peers. Whilst I can’t attest to being the biggest fan of Rap and RnB, what I did particularly like about this track was its ability to immediately connect with you, as if you’ve been listening to it all your life (it just felt familiar). Signed to label Bag Side Business, the group has plans to expand, capitalising on the positive reception they’ve already received in the North East. ‘Lil Lighty’ is available to stream right now on all major platforms. MORTAL CHAINS ‘MORTAL CHAINS’ EP
NE VOLUME RATING:  Durham-based
metal outfit Mortal Chains release their self-titled five-track debut EP. Self-described as influenced by both death and thrash metal, the
chief death influence comes through in the uncompromising, gurgled vocals and nihilist lyrics, which are standard death metal fare. Sonically, things seem to lean more heavily towards thrash, with liberal reliance on atmospheric dynamics, crystalline guitar
lines, chugging set pieces and grandiose arrangements. Opener ‘Prophet’s Eyes’ uses half of its time building to a furious launchpad, and proceedings remain structurally unpredictable, with the denouement of ‘Advocate; a dread-filled, hanging Sabbathian storm cloud. The band still appear to be scouting around for an MO, unsurprisingly for a first collection, with raw, clean production lending a certain clarity. Nonetheless, the lean three-piece sound comfortable delving into complex musicianship and refuse to settle into a comfortable songcraft, with tracks successfully threading multiple ideas together. Thrash has always been an understatedly broad church, but this EP is reminiscent
of a mid-80s sound, as death metal slowly oozed out from other developments. You can listen to the EP now on all major streaming platforms. MICHAEL JOHNSON
worth the listen, whether it’s your first play or 50th. Dripping in disco vibes, this techno-pop hit is all about escapism as it encourages you to step back from reality, step onto that dance floor and lose your inhibitions. With their previous single having been dubbed a queer anthem, the duo are likely to have another LGBTQ+ anthem on their hands here. If you’re looking for an excuse to let loose and
set yourself free, then this is the sonic backdrop you need in your life. Whether you’re heading onto the dance floor with friends and loved ones or making
a personal disco wherever you stand, then Detweiler will definitely make your experience ‘Worth It’ with this feel-good disco-drenched banger. You can listen to ‘Worth It’ now on all major streaming platforms. GEORGINA SHINE

Andrew Bradley has been busy these past few years. After releasing a number of EPs and singles throughout lockdown, he followed up with
his debut album in October 2021. Even then the work didn’t stop as he’s now unveiled his second album, ‘Parasomniac’ - and it’s a belter. This album explores the darker side of our sleeping and dreaming experiences in what is a masterpiece filled with creative genius. From its musical landscape, filled with the effortless blending of sound from track to track,
to its intricate lyrics that can open a whole new world if you delve deep and read between the lines, this is something special. Bradley has taken his silky smooth vocals and intertwined them with a lucid and dreamy sonic backdrop which creates a soothing lullaby to transport you into another world - be it one of waking consciousness or sleepy dreams. is the group’s first album release in nine years. It’s been
a long wait for their North East fans, but the nine-track creation from the folk-rock six-piece is well worth the wait for their followers. Whether you’re looking for an upbeat mood-boosting jam to rock out to or you feel like you need something a little more laid back for a soothing softness, this album has got something for everyone. Whether you’re a fan of Driven Serious or you’re just stepping foot into the folk-rock world, then you will not be disappointed with this album and you’ll be following them for years to come. The band will officially release the album at The Globe
in Newcastle on Saturday 19th November, with support coming from Bubamara. The night will also include the unveiling of their epic new video for ‘Raven's Call’. You can listen to the new album now on all major streaming platforms. GEORGINA SHINE
