Meet Hudson: the little boy who simply adores Asda!
A Darlington mam has praised the team at Asda on Neasham Road, for how they treat her autistic son, Hudson.
Three year old Hudson used to have regular meltdowns whenever he visited the store, but thanks to the actions of one “incredible human”, he now loves Asda so much he has created his own mini store at home.
Meet Mags
Bex, Hudson’s mam, has so many positive words for Mags Lunn, a worker who has created a special bond with Hudson. According to Bex, Hudson hunts Mags down every time they are in the store, hugging her at least five times before he leaves.
Mostimportantly,Magshasgoneaboveandbeyond to help Hudson feel at ease in an environment that would normally cause him lots of stress, leading to a meltdown.
She says this is because Hudson makes her heart melt, because he is such a lovely boy. She can also somewhat relate to Hudson’s plight, as one of her three grandchildren is autistic.
His very own Asda
Hudson first visited the Neasham Road store in November 2020, but found the experience overwhelming and had meltdowns on almost every visit, until he got a toy Asda basket and started doing role play at home.
Now, Hudson has his own Asda checkout, trolley and shelves. There was even a nationwide search to find him a toy home delivery van and the Asda and George wagons. Asda’s head office got wind of this, and gave him some,
so now he has a fleet!!
The team at Asda have given Hudson name badges and lanyards, even going as far as to
let him scan his own shopping whenever he pops in for a visit. Not only has he mastered the self checkout, he can even operate the
big conveyor belt too!
Everyone at Neasham R o a d ’ s Asda loves Hudson - and his affinity for pork pies.
