 GETTING INVOLVED
  GETTING AHEAD FUNDERS
We see a transformation in the investigators because the Getting Ahead curriculum and the facilitated approach value the individual as a person that has resources and ideas on what they want from life. It is a nonjudgmental process that allows the investigators to self-reflect, find their strengths, and learn from one another. This is not a handout where “we” are giving to “others” that are less than. This is an invitation to learn together and create a better future for all involved.
Outcomes such as SMART goals, financial gains, social capital building, less stress, more stability, and so much more are seen at every graduation. A recent graduate who was repeating the instability that he had grown up with recently shared: “I am stable enough to where the income I receive once a month is sufficient for me to meet my needs and allows for me to have discretionary income for those unexpected circumstances.” That’s stabilizing. That’s security in an insecure world.
