Why Would a School District Want to Do This?

© Fewerthan40%ofhouseholdshaveschool-age children, and those households tend to be under-resourced. Under-resourced individuals tend not to vote. It will be harder to get financial support for schools without community support.

© Theaveragestudentspends1,150wakinghoursin school and 4,700 waking hours outside of school. Schools alone cannot buffer neighborhood effects— especially during adolescence.
