                     ALLRED REACHES NEW MILESTONE
Ed Allred, Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading owner and breeder, reached another milestone when he became the first owner to reach 1,500 career Quarter Horse victories.
Allred, a member of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame, reached the mark with the Scott Willoughby-trained Oatie Three, a gelding by Walk Thru Fire. With Vinnie Bednar in the irons, Oatie Three sailed to a 1/2-length victory in the 100-yard race on Feb. 8 at Los Alamitos.
Oatie Three earned $4,285 to take Allred’s career earnings to $19,759,655. When he sur- passes the $20 million mark in career earnings, he’ll become the first Quarter Horse owner to reach that plateau.
Allred’s Quarter Horses have started in 10,648 races, won 1,500 races and scored in 97 stakes. He is the breeder of five Champions, the owner of five Champions and the Breeder/ Owner of two Champions.
Allred has won the AQHA Champion Own- er title a record six times and the AQHA Cham- pion Breeder title a record 12 times.
Allred’s homebred He Looks Hot earned an AQHA Supreme Race Horse title in January.

The first scholarship in memory of John Andreini, who died in July 2018, has been announced for the fall of 2019. Applications opened February 15 and will close April 15. The scholarship is being given through the All Amer- ican Ruidoso Downs Foundation (AARDF).
A total of $6,000 will be distributed to the worthiest candidates from all applications sub- mitted. The application will include a written essay. A subcommittee of the AARDF Board of Directors will review all applications before a final selection is made by the board.
To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants or their families must be involved in the horse
racing community, the applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in their most recent year of study, and must currently attend or begin a course of study at a university, vocation school or certificate program within six months of the application date.
The scholarships will be awarded during a pre- sentation at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack in May.
Andreini was a man whose accomplishments were only outweighed by his generosity and a spirit to serve others. He inspired and led count- less individuals to reach their goals. A lifelong advocate of higher education, Andreini assisted countless students in their academic endeavors. Scholarship donations, 4-H financial support and letters of recommendation were just a few of the ways he emphasized that “there is no substitute for a formal education.”
Andreini was founder and CEO of An- dreini & Company, which was established with branches across the U.S. It is one of the largest, privately held insurance brokerages in the United States, ranking consistently among the top 100 insurance firms in the country.
With his wife Linda, Andreini owned JL Ranch in Paicines, California, a 2,600-acre Quarter Horse racing and breeding farm. Andreini served two terms as a commissioner on the California Horse Racing Board and was a director of the American Quarter Horse Associa- tion and the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association. Andreini was one of four owners of Ruidoso Downs at the time of his death.
