out of High Glee, a daughter of My Pardner by Uncle Jimmy Gray, an Army Remount stallion. Uncle Jimmy Gray, who had 138 official starts with 42 wins, was noted for his speed on the track. He was sired by Bonnie Joe, who is the sire of Joe Blair who is the sire of Joe Reed P-3, the double grandsire of Bud Warren’s stallion Leo.
The race record for 89’er was two official starts with one win. She was A rated in the old rating system, which translates to a speed index of 75 in today’s rating system. The A rating was the second highest speed rating
at this time, as AA used to be the top rating. 89’er was noted as a match racehorse who won several of her races.
89’er would become the dam of 17 foals with 11 racing ROM, including two stakes winners and two stakes placed runners.
Her foals were sired by the Warren stallions Leo, Sugar Bars, Croton Oil, and World Champion Jet Deck. 89’ers stakes winners include Rocky Mountain QHA Futurity winner Leo Bob by Leo, and Midway Downs Premier Futurity winner 89’ers Jet by Jet Deck. Her stakes placed runners include AA runner Miss Sabre by Leo, and AAA runner Whimper by Leo.

Distinctive is stakes placed with a second place finish in the Western Slope Maturity and a third in the Western Slope Derby.
Fast Stripper is a racing ROM daughter
of Sugar Bars and 89’er. She is the dam of runners Calamity Bill si 94 and Fast Fling si 98. Fast Fling, a stakes winner in the Shiloh Derby, is the broodmare sire of A Streak Of Fling who is a noted barrel racing sire of horses like Fame Fling N Bling, the 2016 RFD-TV American Barrel Racing Champion.
Betty Warren was the next mare that Warren brought home from Rocksprings.
She was foaled in 1944 and has no official race record, but through a statement on her registration application it appears she at least made an attempt on the track. Here is what AQHA Inspector S. D. Jernigan wrote, “a little plain in the head, fair in the chest, little weak in the arm, fair in hip and gaskin, a little weak in stifle, small boned, but clean, daylight at present but is in racing condition.”
Betty Warren is out of Kitty Rose, who
is sired by Billy Anson by Harmon Baker. Harmon Baker was a stallion raced and used by William Anson, an English Nobleman who came to America and who became the man most responsible for making the world familiar with the Quarter Horse. He wrote articles that were later used to document the history of the
breed. Harmon Baker was a successfully raced son of the foundation sire Peter McCue, a great race horse noted for his speed.
Betty Warren produced 21 foals, including 14 performers with 12 starters on the track. Her starters earned eight ROM with one stakes winner and three stakes placers, including Leola by Leo who won
the Rocky Mountain QHA Futurity, the Oklahoma Futurity, and the Rocky Mountain QHA Derby. Leola set a New Track Record at Centennial Race Course running 330 yards in :16.900.
Sooner Lady, a daughter of Leo and Betty Warren, is the dam of Forthcoming
by Jet Deck. Forthcoming is the dam of Comingforth, by Azure Te, who won the 1976 Golden State Futurity and the 1977 El Primero Del Ano Derby.
Jet’s Fair Lady is a full sister to Forthcoming and is the dam of the multiple stakes winner Sizzle Te, by Azure Te, including a win in the Golden State Derby. Sizzle Te
is the sire of Sizzling Lil, who is the dam of Corona Chick. 3-time Champion/Dam of Distinction Corona Chick is the dam of All American Futurity-G1 winner Corona Cash and All-Time Leading Living Sire of Money Earners Corona Cartel, and is also the dam of the million dollar sires Valiant Hero, Corona Czech, Mighty Corona, and Captain Courage.
Sorrel Sue, another 1944 foal, was the third mare bought by Warren from Jess Hankins. Her pedigree is the most mysterious of the three, as her dam was known as
the Tommy King mare whose pedigree is unknown. She was never officially raced.
Sorrel Sue was the dam of 13 foals with nine starters that earned six ROM including one stakes winner. Mac Lee by Leo was her stakes winner in the Kansas Derby and the Rocky Mountain QHA Derby.
Leonella was an AA rated mare and
full sister to Mac Lee. She was the dam of Ricketta, winner of the Yakima Meadows Northern Racing QHA Derby and dam of AA rated runner Marilyn Mae. Marilyn Mae is the dam of Little Smoothie, who is the dam of the 1983 Champion 2 Year Old/1983 Champion 2-Year-Old Colt/1984 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Tolltac.
Tolltac is the sire of $7 million. His leading money earner is Rambac, winner of $504,940. Tolltac is a leading broodmare sire with his grandget earning $17 million. He is the broodmare sire of All American Futurity-G1 winner Carters Cartel, a $7 million sire, and Tac It Like A Man, a $4 million sire. Both of these horses are out of Jumpin Tac Flash and sired by Corona Cartel. This sire and dam combination brings together the influence of Jess Hankins on this pedigree.
Racehorse breeder Ott Adams didn’t race his horses, but believed in speed and bred for speed. Little Joe, sired by Traveler, became his foundation sire and is found in many of today’s bloodlines.
