Bank of America Mexico Championship Challenge
A REMARKABLE PERRY
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Eduardo Silveyra
Agood prize of $760,962 pesos ($40,343 US approximately) was disputed in the second classic of the season at a distance of 440 yards, which included 10 runners three years and older nominated to the AQHA Challenge program.
The competition was held at the racetrack in Mexico City on August 7 before an expect- ant audience that favored Lonely In Front BR, Apollitical Knockout, and Sound Of Candy, in that order. With the program in hand, they came to the saddling paddock to view the physical and mental state of each participant.
The entrants moved to the gates and took their starting positions, and the judge only waited for riders and horses to be serene to order the gates opened. The start was good for all and the battle began on the sandy track.
Immediately, the red bay Sound Of Candy took the lead from the inside rail, well sup- ported by José Luis Santos. Her impressive stride and sporting history made her seem
the winner for moment. However, beside
her the sorrel Zoomin Jr pressed tightly with each stride, while in the center of the track
the advancement of A Remarkable Perry was implacable under the wise leadership of Moises
González García. Very close to him, Weee spent all his energy to earn a good part of the prize. A Remarkable Perry was the first to close the distance to the surprise
of friends and strangers,
1/2-length in front of Weee,
with Zoomin Jr in third
place. His travel time was
:21.34 for a 102 speed index.
With the victory, the
4-year-old dapple grey got
his fourth win and third
classic in 11 races. In his
debut on June 15, 2014, he
qualified for the finals of the
Jodys Glory Classic, winning
it three weeks later. Just
over two years later, he was
third in the Javier Rosique
Palavicini classic, but after disqualification of Volcoms Heart and Daring Dynasty, he was awarded the prize for first place.
Now, we wait for this team to represent Mexico in the finals of the Bank of America Racing Challenge Championships, to be held at the Los Alamitos Racetrack in California, on October 29.
A Remarkable Perry was born in the United States, where he was raised by Francisco
Colorado Cessa.
He is a son of the stallion
Mr Piloto and out of the mare Dashing Little Reba
(by First Down Dash). With this victory, added to his winnings is $350,023 pesos (approximately US $18,563). He runs for the Cuadra San Lazaro de Arara, owned by Luis Miguel Albores Gleason. For this race, he was saddled by trainer Rafael Alejandro Contreras González.
Weee, a daughter of Foose out of Special Ela, occupied second place for Cuadra La Purisima del Pasaje, led by
