2023 SPEEDHORSE BARREL STALLION REGISTER
The cover of this year’s 2023 Speedhorse Barrel Stallion Register celebrates the versatile stallion A Streak Of Fling, aka Streaker. The 1999 red roan stallion proved himself on the racetrack and he has proven himself through his progeny in the barrel arena.
Ferman Mayo bred A Streak Of Fling out of 18-time winner and multiple stakes winner Moon Fling.
A Streak Of Fling started on the racetrack
at two years of age in 2001 for owner Sheila
Reed and trainer Rodney Reed. In 2002, he was purchased by trainer Eddie D. Willis. A Streak Of Fling made 14 starts, winning three races and he was a finalist in the Blue Ribbon Derby-G3.
Brian and Lisa Fulton purchased Streaker in 2003 and by 2004, Brian was competing in breakaway roping on him.
“He was bought to be a calf roping, team roping and bulldogging sire and that is what we were shooting for, and little did we know it would take off in the barrel racing and that is wonderful,” said Lisa Fulton to Larry Thornton in our Speedlines feature.
Streaker’s first barrel foals were foaled in 2005 and he is now the #3 All-Time Leading Barrel Sire. He has sired 701 barrel performers with nearly $7 million in barrel progeny earnings. His top money earner is Fame Fling N Bling with $778,374. He
is currently sitting #10 on the 2022 Top 20 Barrel Futurity Sires list with total current year earnings of $142,648. His top 2022 futurity earner is Dudes Spring Fling with $23,018 in current year earnings.
