Since its inception years ago, the original Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year Award was based on achievement and through their achievement we have honored many of our industry’s great broodmares. The naming of the 2021 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year will follow that long standing tradition.
The 2021 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year award is dedicated to highlighting the contribution of the mare to the racehorse industry by bringing together the top mares from four AQHA racing categories:
to be named the Speedhorse Broodmare of
the Year. They were awarded points based on their placing in the respective categories they qualified for: 5 points for number one in a category down to 1 point for fifth place. The dams of Champions are awarded 5 points
for World Champion, 4 for overall divisional Champions and 3 for age division Champions. A horse receiving both an overall divisional championship and an age division championship will receive the higher award of 4 points. In
case of a tie, the dam with the most current year earnings will be determined the winner.
Only Quarter Horse foals are considered and listed for each mare. Under each mare’s name is a summary of her 2021 produce record. The statistics include: Starters, Winners, Stakes Winners, Number of Stakes Wins, Stakes Placers, 2021 Money Earnings
which the mare made the list of nominees. Her leading 2021 starter(s) follows, then any additional 2021 starters.
A big part of the Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year Award is to identify the top mares in each category and that is the purpose
of this summary. We hope that you enjoy reading about some of the industry’s best broodmares of 2021.
The 2021 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year award winner is Remember Me Rose. The owners of this horse will receive an engraved trophy signifying their mare as the winner of this prestigious award. Remember Me Rose is covered in depth in the Broodmare issue in a special feature on page 39 as
well as in our Speedlines feature on page
56 Remember Me Rose was also the 2019 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year.
