OQHRA Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet Recognizing the 2018 OQHRA, OHRC, APHA, ApHC & AQHA Regional Champions
Hosts Record Breaking Crowd for Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet
by Debbie Schauf, OQHRA Executive Director
A record crowd of over 400 members, their families, and friends attended the 30th annual OQHRA Awards Recognition event and Annual OQHRA business meeting on March 2. The event was held at the Grand Hotel and Casino just outside Shawnee, Oklahoma. President Ed Smith welcomed everyone and opened the business meeting. OQHRA Executive Director Debbie Schauf reported on the 2018 actions taken by the board of directors and presented the results of the most recently concluded financial audit of the association’s financial condition. OQHRA membership for 2018 included 2,100 voting members and total assets of just over $3 million, including funds escrowed for Futurity and Derby races and the Black Gold Stallion program.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of the members’ racing accom- plishments during the 2018 racing season. With the assistance of Dale Day, Remington Park racetrack announcer as the Master of Ceremonies, the best of the horses, trainers, riders, owners, and breeders were recognized with awards presented by OQHRA, OHRC, AQHA, APHA, and ApHC. OQHRA annually hosts this banquet at no cost to its members and guests to recognize the great accomplishments of its membership.
