Fox News’ winning connections include owner Tom Maher, trainer Jason Olmstead and jockey Edwin Escobedo.

“I thought she had a good chance,” shared Tom Maher. “Fox News just left there and went on with it. She wasn’t weakening any. She looks like she can do that 400. We’ll give her a good rest now and then come back and go to Remington with her.”
Bred in Missouri by Jim Streelman and Bill Dale, Fox News is produced from the Mr Jess Perry mare Summer Love Song.
Her second dam, Tiny First Down, won the 2000 Southern California Derby-G1 at Los Alamitos and was a finalist in the 1999 All American-G1 and Rainbow-G1 Futurities at Ruidoso Downs.
Fox News is a full brother to graded stakes winner Midday News, who banked $383,270 in winning six of 29 starts.
“I bought Fox News the night her brother, Midday News, had finished second in one of his stakes races,” Maher recalled. “She (Fox News) is from a very nice family.”
Runner-up Leading Flare (Flare for Ivory- Leadmetoyourladder) ran on gamely to finish second under jockey Alan Hernandez. Owned by Cheri Wardell and trained by Wesley Giles, Leading Flare was bred in South Dakota by Wardell Quarter Horses. The chestnut gelding won the Ruidoso Downs Derby Challenge Stakes in August at Ruidoso Downs.
O Seeyalater (First Timber-Howdoyado) bumped after the start but stayed on tenaciously to finish third for jockey Fernando Fonseca-Soto. The
brown filly is trained by Durk Peery, and she was bred in Oklahoma by Wesley Oulton. The four-time stakes winner and a winner of three straight heading into the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship, saw the current win streak snapped with her third- place finish. O Seeyalater was a $12,000 graduate of the 2021 AQHRA Yearling Mixed Sale.
A Legacy Of Tales (Wagon Tales- Legacys A Streakin), Chilli Red (Lethal
Corona-Makeala), AJ Fast Corona (Apollitical Jess-Fast Prize Corona),
Big Dream Baby (Apollitical Jess-Kates Dynasty), DC Ladys Dashn Eagle (One Dashing Eagle-DC Lady Juno), and What Else Is New (Lota PYC-Ms Haulin Chic), and A Game Of Corona (Dealagame-Corona Blast) was disqualified from seventh to 10th for interference at the start.
Fox News and Edwin Escobedo are led to the winner’s circle.
