The photo on page 207 shows Heza Fast Man (The Signature-Fast Copy, Fast Jet), the first winner of the Texas Classic Futurity-G1 in 1993 at Trinity Meadows. The purse was $851,670 and the colt was ridden by Henry Garcia, trained by John Bassett, and owned by Mike and
Mack Hasting’s San Tan Tillage Inc. Heza Fast Man started his career with four straight victories, including a win in the Kevin Burns Memorial Futurity. He finished second in the All American Futurity-G1 by just a nose to A Classic Dash, and he finished his freshman season with a victory in the Texas Classic Futurity-G1. In 1994 as a sophomore, Heza Fast Man SI 111 ($801,356) was named the 1994 Champion Three-Year-Old Colt after a win in the Vandy’s Flash Handicap-G3, a second in the All American Derby-G1, and a third in the QHBC Championship Classic-G1. He was also a finalist in the Remington Park Derby-G1. Heza Fast Man won or placed in 15 of 17 starts and set two New Track Records as a two-year-old at 300-yards in Arizona. The bay stallion is a Champion sire of over $13.4 million with 53 stakes winners, including 2-time Champion
A Real Man SI 107 ($308,819, NTR) and Value The Man SI 110 ($732,399), among others. Heza Fast Man was euthanized on Dec. 6, 2005, after a long battle with laminitis. He stood his entire career at JEH Stallion Station-Texas Division in Frisco, Texas, and then he moved to Pilot Point when JEH relocated - where he was buried. This year’s $1,000,000 estimated Texas Classic Futurity-G1 will be held at Lone Star Park on Nov. 18.
