The 44th annual Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders’ Association Yearling Sale was held Aug. 7-8 at the Equine Sales Company facility in Opelousas, Louisiana. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sale was moved from the Coush- atta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana, where the sale is typically held.
Gross sales reached $4,771,100 for 377 horses sold of the 485 offered. Preliminary re- sults showed an average of $12,655 and median sales reaching $9,500.
“Certainly, things were off comparatively, but even with the COVID-19 pandemic and moving the sale location at a late date, we had a good crowd both days,” LQHBA executive director Bruce Salard said to stallionesearch.com.
Bobby Cox, the leading buyer of the sale, purchased the sale topper for $85,000, Hip #354 Kamis Fivebar Luv (Five Bar Cartel-Luv Supreme, Mr Jess Perry). Consigned by Robi- cheaux Ranch Inc. Agent, the sorrel filly is by Champion Five Bar Cartel and out of graded stakes placed Luv Supreme, who is a sister to Champion A Revenant.
The second highest seller at $75,000 was Hip #532 Attitudes Runnaway (Sir Runaway Dash- Streak N Attitude, Streakin La Jolla). J/B Racing consigned the sorrel colt, who was purchased by Jerry DeVille. Attitudes Runnaway is by leading Louisiana sire Sir Runaway Dash and is out of Grade 3 winner Streak N Attitude, who is unde- feated in four starts.
Robicheaux Ranch Inc. was the leading con- signor of the sale with 25 horses selling for a total of $469,800, followed by Grant Farms LLC, who sold 26 head for $359,900.
