   The 23rd annual Texas Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale was held July 24-25 in San Antonio, Texas. Protocols related to COVID-19 were in place and only 100 in- dividuals were allowed entry to practice safe social distance requirements.
The sale saw 165 horses sell over two days out of the 230 offered. The gross sales reached $2,829,600 with a 9% increase in the average and 17% increase in median prices from 2019.
“We were very pleased with the results of the sale – especially with all of the challenges we had to overcome due to COVID-19 restrictions,” stated TQHA Executive Director Val Clark. “A huge thank you to both consignors and buyers for your participation and trust in the TQHA Yearling Sale in a year of unknowns.”
Hip #88, Triumf (Tempting Dash-Jessa Louisiana Zoom, Jess Louisiana Blue), was the sale topper at $100,000. Consigned by Bobby D. Cox, the bay colt was purchased by Rachuan Suarez. Triumf is by Champion Tempting Dash and he is a first foal out of multiple graded stakes winner Jessa Louisiana Zoom. His third dam is 4-time Champion Corona Cash.
Rachuan Suarez also purchased the second highest seller at $75,000, Hip #70, Konfidential (Kiss My Hocks-Grey Daze, Captain Courage). The brown colt, who was also consigned by Bobby D. Cox, is by 2-time Champion Kiss My Hocks and from the fam- ily of Graded stakes winner Si Puede.
The leading buyer was Rachuan Suarez, purchasing six horses for a total of $282,000. The second leading buyer was Alejandro Cas- taneda, purchasing 11 horses for $151,100.
The leading consignor/agent was Bobby D. Cox, selling 15 horses for $749,000. The second leading consignor/agent was Granada Farms, Agent, selling 10 horses for $230,200.
The leading sire by average with two or more yearlings sold was Mr Jess Perry with four head selling for an average of $41,250. The second leading sire by average with two or more yearlings sold was Duponte with three horses selling for an average of $39,667.
