Corona Crystal, the dam of Walk Thru Crystal, won the 2006 Whataway To Go Handicap and placed in three other stakes, two of them graded. The mare has produced 11 starters, five of them winners, including stakes winner Crystal Sola. Corona Crystal is a full sister to stakes winner Commander Corona.
Jaime Gomez owns and trains Docs Best Card (Corona Cartel-Docs First Card), who finished second in the Ed Burke Million Futurity, as he did in the Kindergarten Futurity. Carlos Huerta rode the colt for Gomez. Docs Best Card was the fastest quali- fier to the Ed Burke.
Ed Allred’s homebred Sale Topper (Walk Thru Fire-Special And Proud) ran third for jockey Ramon Sanchez and trainer Scott Willoughby. The gelding broke his maiden in his debut and then ran second in his Ed Burke Million Futurity trial for the seventh qualify- ing time.
Completing the field were We Like Corona (Corona Cartel-Jess Jets), Budder Think Twice (First Down Dash-Budderfly Effect), Toughie (Stel Corona-Hard Lining), Bookish (Walk Thru Fire-Callan Rocks), Rolll Tide (Tempting Dash-Senorita Seis), and Thru The Night (Walk Thru Fire-Night Lines).
