  RIG TIME
Luis Contreras rode Rig Time to a four-length victory in the January 26, $100,000 Johnie L. Jamison Handicap (R) for New Mexico-breds at Sunland Park.
Trained by Weston Martin for owners Larry Teague and Harry Teague of Hobbs, New Mexico, Rig Time covered 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15.57. The homebred 5-year-old Right Rigger gelding earned $60,000 from his second stakes win.
Rig Time is one of four stakes winners from 13 starters sired by Right Rigger, 14-year-old son of the Unbridled stallion Unbridled’s Song and a half brother to the stakes-placed Stormandaprayer and Dothraki. Right Rigger has sired the earners of more than $1.2 million from seven crops, includ- ing stakes winners Dust Alert, Ten Penny Cents, and Tea Light.
Right Rigger is owned by Susan A. Hunter, and he stands for a $3,500 fee at Hunter Creek Farms LLC at Roswell, New Mexico.
Rig Time is one of three winners from
four starters foaled by Stardust Lady, a win- ning 14-year-old daughter of the Gulch stallion Dry Gulch. The gelding is a full brother to Dust Alert, the winner of the 2015 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs, and Dancinstardustlady, the runner-up in last year’s Copper Top Futurity (R) at Sunland Park.
Rig Time traces back to his fourth dam, the multiple stakes winning Run Dusty Run mare Dusty Gloves. A 1981 Kentucky-bred foal, Dusty Gloves produced eight winners from 11 starters, including Seeking The Circle, Rig Time’s third dam and the runner-up in the ’93 Tempted Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct, and listed stakes winner Fin Entertainment and Middleweight.
Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Rig Time has banked $297,154 from 20 starts, and his seven wins include a 1 3/4-length victory in the 2018 Road Runner Handicap (R) at Ruidoso Downs. Last year, the gelding ran second, a half of a length behind winner Perty Dirty Dude, in the 6-furlong, $175,000 New Mexico Cup Sprint Championship (R) at Zia Park.
Rig Time was sent to post as the 19-10 second choice in the field of eight and returned a $5.80 win mutuel. Jet N G finished second and was followed by Shining Source, No Pasa Nada, Thunder Dome, Slewacide Special, 7-5 favorite Blazing Navarone, and Another Brother.
Jet N G is a homebred son of the Old Trieste stallion Mr. Trieste campaigned by Maurcenia Cross. The 5-year-old gelding has won four of 19 races, and his record includes a second-place finish in the 2017 Eddy County Stakes at Zia Park. He was also a finalist in the Jack Cole
Stakes, Red Hedeman Mile Stakes, New Mexico State University Handicap and O.D. McDonald Handicap. The $20,000 runner-up share of the Johnie L. Jamison Handicap purse increased his bankroll to $176,450.
Shining Source races for Barton Ranch Stables LLC and Blake Rust. A 9-year-old son
of the Montbrook stallion Source, the dark bay or brown gelding has won 13 of 52 starts and
has earned $614,238, and his six stakes victories include the 2017 Johnie L. Jamison Handicap. He was also a runner up in the University of New Mexico Handicap (twice), Johnie L. Jamison Handicap, Rocky Gulch New Mexico Classic Cup Championship Stakes (twice).
