New Mexico artist Linda Manion
has shown her work for over 25 years. Growing up riding horses professionally in the Southern California circuit greatly influenced her art.
She also offers portraits of people and their pets,
but her work is widely known for her equine representations.
Linda graduated with a degree in Fine Arts where she studied various artists and mediums. “I always had a sense of what I wanted to do, and realism led me to my own technique, as well as what was important to my customer in capturing their loved ones.”
Working from reference photographs, Linda sketches first, to create the composition. Each piece is created using her self-taught technique.
“Commissioned art allows for learning the story behind each individual, person or animal,” she said. “It’s always rewarding memorializing them through my personal expressions in art.”
Whether custom art or from photographs taken in her travels, Linda’s paintings have a focus on the individual, capturing the very spirit and innate beauty within. “My goal is the timeless piece, holding that memory in art.”
In support of the jockeys, Linda also publishes
The Jockey Calendar©, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the riders. The 2020 Jockey Calendar© will be available early this fall.
