JESS GOOD CANDY
(Good Reason SA-Jess Send Candy) Standing at Lazy E Ranch
2019 fee: $9,500
Jess Good Candy boasts the highest stud fee of all the stallions with first-crop yearlings this season and for good reason. The 2013 son of multiple Champion sire and 2-time Champion Good Reason SA was also a Champion on the racetrack. Jess Good Candy was named Champion 2 Year Old/Champion 2-Year-Old Colt following an undefeated juvenile campaign that saw him win the All American Futurity-G1 at Ruidoso Downs, defeating One Fabulous Eagle.
He followed his perfect 4-for-4 season at 2 with another undefeated season at 3. He won the Ruidoso Derby-G1 and the Mr Master Bug Handicap at Remington Park, completing his racing career with an unblemished 8-for-8 record and career earnings of $2,014,703.
Jess Good Candy hails from a line of runners top and bottom. He is out of the winning Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Send Candy, making him a half- brother to stakes winners This Candys Awesome, Send Me This Wagon and Honeymoon Candy.
“His yearlings are big, robust and very correct,” said Lazy E Ranch’s Butch Wise.
“They are very correct with really good feet and tremendous toplines. We’ve seen them from a variety of mares, so he doesn’t seem to be mare specific in terms of what he requires.
“They’ve really got a presence and look about them,” Wise added. “There’s a lot of excitement for him because he’s an undefeated All American winner and everyone’s anxious to see his yearlings. They won’t be disappointed. He gets a horse that looks like a quarter-mile horse. They look the part.”
LETHAL CORONA
(Corona Cartel-Miss Lethal) Standing at Texas Stud
2019 fee: $1,000
Lethal Corona comes from a family rich in black type. The 2011 son of Corona Cartel is out of the Chicks Beduino mare Miss Lethal. An All-time Leading Dam of ROM, Miss Lethal has produced 11 winners from 16 starters, including Champion Volcom
Bay and Grade 1 winner Lethal Delight, who produced Grade 1 winner JM Miracle. This
is the immediate female family of Champions Dash Thru Traffic, Timeto Thinkrich and Meter Me Gone.
On the track, Lethal Corona finished 2nd in the Dash For Cash Juvenile Invitational at Lone Star Park and was 3rd in the Easy Jet Stakes-RG3 at Remington Park as a 2 year old. All told, he retired to stud with 4 victories and $62,334 in earnings.
“The thing that stands out about this
stallion is his female family,” said Dr. Leland Prowse DVM of Texas Stud. “What makes a great stallion is a female family, and he has an impeccable female family. There’s a lot of black type there. This mare that Lethal Corona is out of will put some Chicks Beduino in there, and the female family is what makes ‘em or breaks ‘em.”
MOONIN THE EAGLE
(One Famous Eagle-Your First Moon) Standing at Hart Farms

Moonin The Eagle is a son of Champions. His sire, One Famous Eagle, is a millionaire and Champion as well as a World Champion sire. A son of World Champion sire and Champion runner One Famous Eagle,

He was 2nd in the All American Futurity-G1 to Jess Good Candy and reported home 3rd in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1, beaten by First Valiant Sign
and Fine Oak Corona. In his sophomore campaign, One Fabulous Eagle captured the Corona Cartel Invitational Derby at Ruidoso Downs and was a finalist in the All American Derby-G1 and Texas Classic Derby-G1. He retired with earnings of $664,547, having won 5 of 11 career outings.
“Overall, this is an outstanding first-crop of yearlings across the board,” said Laura Erickson of Royal Vista Ranches in Oklahoma. “As a group, they are the most balanced and correct yearlings I have seen in a long time.
He stamps all of them with a big, powerful
hip and a lot of bone. They have a classic look about them. I anticipate we’re going to see great things with this group at the racetrack
in 2020. I think he will certainly be in the running for Leading Freshman Sire based on what I see in these yearlings.”
